Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 green peppers, sliced
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 c. canned tomatoes
- 1 c. cooked rice
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
Method
- Melt shortening in a skillet.
- Saute the sliced onions and green peppers until tender.
- Add ground beef; cook until there is no pink left in the meat, stirring with a fork to make it crumble. Add tomatoes, rice and seasoning.
- Arrange in a 9-inch square baking dish; top with bread crumbs.
- Brown slowly in a 350° oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
