Ingredients

  • 12 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 14 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 34 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 12 teaspoons baking powder
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 12 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 12 cup nuts (optional)

Method

  • Cream shortening until light and fluffy.
  • Blend in sugar; beat in egg and vanilla, almond extract, and milk.
  • Mix in dry ingredients, 1/3 at a time, combining well after each addition.
  • Mix in coconut, chips and nuts.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
  • Press flat with a wet fork.
  • Bake in 350 degree oven till golden - 12 minutes.
