Ingredients

  • 2 12 cups onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 (10 ounce) canscondensed bouillon
  • 2 soup cans water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 rounds french bread
  • 14 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Method

  • Saute onion rings in butter over low heat until yellow.
  • Slowly add bouillon and water.
  • Heat until simmering, then add bouillon cubes and pepper.
  • Cover and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Sprinkle rounds of bread with grated cheese and place under broiler.
  • Heat until golden brown.
  • Top each serving with a toast round.
  • Serve with grated parmesan cheese on the side, if desired.
