Ingredients

  • 1 large can yams
  • 1 large graham cracker pie shell or 2 small
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
  • pinch of baking soda
  • 1 small can Carnation

Method

  • Heat yams.
  • When warm, pour off liquid and mash.
  • Add melted margarine; mix well.
  • Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
  • Pour into pie shell.
  • Bake at 350° until top and edges brown, about 60 minutes.
  • (If only edges brown, place under broiler to brown top, about 3 to 4 minutes.)
