Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. milk
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 pkg. frozen strawberries, thawed

Method

  • Combine in a saucepan, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, salt and milk (a wire whisk works great).
  • Cook and stir until it boils and thickens.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir about a cup of warmed ingredients into the egg yolk in a separate bowl.
  • Add this mixture back into saucepan with the hot mixture.
  • Return to stove and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Stir in vanilla and pour into a dish.
  • Chill.
  • Serve with strawberries on top.
