Ingredients

  • 1 c. cake flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. egg whites
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1/2 pt. whipping cream
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries, thawed

Method

  • Sift flour and confectioners sugar together 3 times.
  • Beat together egg whites, cream of tartar and salt with a wire whisk or electric mixer until foamy.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time; beat until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold in 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla and almond flavorings.
  • Sift flour mixture gradually over the top; fold in gently, just until flour mixture disappears.
