Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 c. strawberry preserves
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice or 1/4 tsp. lemon extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. red food coloring

Method

  • Blend butter, sugar, vanilla, salt and juice; beat eggs, one at a time.
  • Dissolve soda in sour cream and add to egg mixture. Fold in flour, nuts, preserves and food coloring.
  • Pour batter into 2 large or 4 small greased loaf pans.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until bread pulls away from pans.
  • Yield:
  • 2 large loaves or 4 small loaves.
