Ingredients

  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, undrained and coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 slices white bread, toasted and crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine

Method

  • Place the tomatoes, butter and sugar in a saucepan and heat until the margarine melts.
  • Add bread crumbs and continue simmering until most of liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Turn the mixture into a greased 1 1/2-quart round casserole and bake in a 350° oven until thick and bubbly, about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Yields 6 servings.
