Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 c. finely diced onion
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. uncooked rice
- 5 to 6 c. water
- 1 c. finely diced carrots
- 1 c. finely diced potatoes
- 1 to 2 tsp. soy or Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Method
- Brown garlic in fat in 10-inch skillet.
- Remove garlic, then add onion and beef.
- Cook until browned.
- Add rice and water. Simmer, uncovered, over low heat 40 minutes.
- Add carrots and potatoes.
- Continue simmering until tender (20 minutes).
- Add seasonings.
- Serve hot, garnished with parsley.
- Makes 6 servings.
