Ingredients
- 7 1/2 c. flour
- 5 eggs (room temperature)
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 sticks oleo, melted
- 1 can Pet milk
- 1 c. water (warm, not hot)
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
Method
- In large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until lemon in color.
- Add melted butter and lemon juice.
- Add yeast that was mixed with 1/2 cup warm milk and water.
- Add flour alternately and rest of milk and water until all used up (if dough is too sticky, add a bit of flour).
- Dough should be heavy enough to drop off spoon, but not runny.
- Let rise until double.
- Drop by tablespoon into oil (375°).
- Fry 2 to 3 minutes until dark brown in color so they are not raw inside.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cool.
