Ingredients

  • 7 1/2 c. flour
  • 5 eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks oleo, melted
  • 1 can Pet milk
  • 1 c. water (warm, not hot)
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice

Method

  • In large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until lemon in color.
  • Add melted butter and lemon juice.
  • Add yeast that was mixed with 1/2 cup warm milk and water.
  • Add flour alternately and rest of milk and water until all used up (if dough is too sticky, add a bit of flour).
  • Dough should be heavy enough to drop off spoon, but not runny.
  • Let rise until double.
  • Drop by tablespoon into oil (375°).
  • Fry 2 to 3 minutes until dark brown in color so they are not raw inside.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cool.
