Ingredients

  • 6 slices sauteed bacon diced and lightly brown
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 2 c. ham (diced)
  • 1 c. carrot (diced)
  • 1 c. celery (diced)
  • Bag of split peas
  • 3 qt. water
  • 1/4 tsp. hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. worcestershire
  • 2 tbsp. ham base
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Method

  • Saute bacon until lightly browned. Add onion, ham, carrot, and celery. Continue to cook until bacon is fully cooked. Pick over peas and discard bad ones. Rinse under running water. Add to bacon mixture. Add water, pepper sauce, worcestershire, ham base, and minced garlic.
