Ingredients

  • 4 c. green tomatoes, finely chopped, not peeled
  • 3 c. apples, peeled, chopped
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice, sprinkle over apples
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • dash of ginger
  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell, unbaked

Method

  • Combine tomatoes and apples sprinkled with lemon juice.
  • Place in pie shell.
  • Sprinkle with sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger.
  • Cover top of pie with foil and bake in 375° oven 25 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and remove foil.
  • Return to oven and bake 30 minutes more.
  • Serve with warm cream.
