Ingredients
- 4 large beets, peeled and sliced medium
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. white vinegar
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 c. water
Method
- Cover
- the
- beets
- with water and add onions; cover and boil for
- hour
- or
- until
- beets are tender.
- Drain and add sugar, vinegar, cloves, cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Mash beets and reheat over a low fire for 10 to 15 minutes.
