Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • 3 big cans pear shaped tomatoes
  • 1 large can tomato sauce plus 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 cans tomato paste (8 to 10 oz.)
  • 6 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 4 bell peppers
  • 5 medium to large onions
  • 2 buds garlic
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 3 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. parsley
  • 2 lb. Italian sausage
  • 1 lb. ground round steak

Method

  • Chop onions, celery, bell peppers, garlic and mushrooms. Put in pot with olive oil and saute. When finished, pour out all excess oil. Brown all meat; add tomatoes, sauce and paste. Add meat. Add salt, basil, oregano, red peppers, parsley and sugar. Simmer 8 to 10 hours. Stir every half hour, low heat.
