Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 2 c. tomatoes (whole, juice too)
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 3/4 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 3 bay leaves

Method

  • Put ground beef in frying pan.
  • Add onion, green pepper and mushrooms.
  • Brown. Drain grease; then add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  • Simmer about 3 hours.
  • Remove bay leaves and serve over hot spaghetti.
  • Serves 3 to 4 people.
