Ingredients

  • 16 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (14 ounce) can canned whole tomatoes
  • 12 teaspoon dried basil
  • 18 teaspoon black pepper
  • 18 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Method

  • Heat oil over medium-low heat in a large skillet.
  • Add mushrooms, onion, and garlic.
  • Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, stir occasionally.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Let simmer, uncovered, for about 50 minutes, or until thickness of sauce is to your liking
  • Freezes well.
