Ingredients

  • 2-3 tbsp. butter
  • 2 c. whole wheat flour or possibly half white, half wheat
  • 2 c. sourdough starter
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Melted butter for brushing tops

Method

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Heat butter.
  • Combine remaining ingredients except butter and stir together in mixing bowl.
  • With floured hands, healthy pinch off walnut-size balls of dough and place in 9-10 inch skillet.
  • Let rise in hot place for 15 min.
  • Bake 25-30 min.
  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Watch to make sure they do not burn.
  • Variation: Add in minced apples, mashed cooked sweet potatoes, raisins or possibly chopped onion to the dough.
  • Makes 1 1/2-2 dozen.
