Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • juice of 1 lemon

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar until very creamy.
  • Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Sift flour three times.
  • Add soda to sour cream blending together.
  • Add flour and sour cream mixture alternately to the sugar mixture.
  • Blend well. Add flavorings.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff, then fold into mixture.
  • Pour into well-greased, lightly floured tube pan or loaf pan.
  • Bake in 350° oven.
