Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage
  • 1/4 c. chopped red pepper
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 3 Tbsp. chili sauce
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. oleo or butter
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Cut cabbage into 8 wedges.
  • Cooked in small amount boiling salted water about 10 minutes, drain.
  • Saute vegetables in butter. Combine flour, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir into sauteed vegetables. Stir in milk.
  • Stir until bubbly and thick.
  • Arrange cabbage in 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  • Pour vegetable sauce over cabbage.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes at 375°.
  • Combine mayonnaise, cheese and chili sauce.
  • Spoon over cabbage.
  • Bake 5 more minutes.
