Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice, Jasmine Or Brown
  • 4 cups Water
  • 4 cups Broth, Any Type
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Method

  • This is a recipe for very basic congee, but it is incredibly easy to customize and make a balanced meal.
  • Simply add in your favorite chopped vegetables or meat a few minutes before serving.
  • You can either use leftover meat thats cooked, or cook it in the congee for at least 15 minutes before serving.
  • Be sure to use your favorite broth for this recipeit brings most of the flavor to this dish.
  • Rinse the rice well to clean it off.
  • Combine the rice, water, broth and salt in a slow cooker.
  • Cook on low for 10-12 hours, or until the rice has fallen apart and is soft in the broth.
  • Ladle into bowls and garnish as you wish.
  • Garnish with any choice of scallions, peanuts, hot sauce or cilantro.
