Ingredients

  • 3 c. plus 6 Tbsp. unsifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Set aside.
  • Combine butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla; beat until creamy.
  • Beat in eggs.
  • Gradually add flour mixture.
  • Mix well.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Wrap in waxed paper.
  • Chill 1 hour until firm.
  • Divide dough into 4 parts.
  • On wax paper, shape each part into 9 inch roll.
  • Cut each chilled roll into nine 1-inch slices.
  • Cut each slice into 4 quarters.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375°.
  • May refrigerate up to 1 week or freeze.
