- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 lb. ground pork
- 1 small onion, grated
- 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. marjoram
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 can beef consomme
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 2 Tbsp. sweet relish
Method
- Combine meat, onion, crumbs, seasonings, eggs and milk.
- Mix with a fork.
- Shape into 48 small balls.
- Brown a few at a time in shortening.
- Drain off all fat from pan.
- Return meat balls.
- Pour consomme over balls.
- Simmer, covered, 15 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon.
- Keep hot.
