Ingredients

  • 10 taco shells, coarsely broken
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (1 1/4 oz.) pkg. taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. dried minced onion
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 c. grated Monterey Jack cheese
  • salsa sauce

Method

  • In a lightly greased 1 1/2-quart casserole, place half of the broken taco shells.
  • In skillet, brown beef until crumbled; drain. Add taco seasoning mix and water.
  • Simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes. Stir in onion and tomato sauce.
  • Spoon meat mixture over shells. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of cheese.
  • Place remaining taco chips over cheese.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  • Serve with salsa sauce.
