Ingredients

  • 1 lb. shrimp
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 c. green pepper
  • 1/4 c. chopped celery
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 to 1 Creole seasoning (we use Paul Prudhomme's Seafood Magic)
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 16 oz. can tomatoes, chopped (with liquid)
  • 4 oz. tomato sauce

Method

  • Peel and devein shrimp.
  • Cook onions, peppers, celery and garlic in butter until tender.
  • Blend in flour and seasonings. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce and cook until thick, stirring constantly.
  • Add shrimp and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve over rice.
