Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 sq. butter (not margarine)
  • 1 (1 lb.) pkg. light brown sugar
  • 2/3 c. canned milk
  • 1 (1 lb.) pkg. minus 1/4 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • In heavy saucepan, melt butter.
  • Add brown sugar and milk; stir.
  • Bring to boil; cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; let cool 2 minutes.
  • Add powdered sugar; beat until smooth with electric mixer (if electric mixer isn't used, powdered sugar must be sifted).
  • Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Spread immediately in buttered pan.
  • Yields 34.
