Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 3 c. milk
  • 6 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. onion, chopped

Method

  • Make white sauce of first five ingredients (shredded cheese may be added to sauce).
  • Place half of the potatoes in greased 2-quart casserole.
  • Cover with half the onion and then half the sauce. Repeat the layers.
  • Cover and bake at 350° for about 1 hour. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
