Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 c. milk
  • 4 c. thinly sliced, raw potatoes
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb. thinly sliced salami, quartered or cut into strips

Method

  • Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.
  • Blend in flour and seasonings.
  • Add milk, stirring constantly.
  • Cook until sauce is smooth and thickened.
  • Arrange alternate layers of potatoes, onion and salami in a buttered 2-quart casserole, covering each layer of potatoes and meat with hot sauce.
