Ingredients

  • 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate (1 oz. each)
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • powdered or granulated sugar

Method

  • In large heavy saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat,
  • stirring
  • constantly.
  • Remove
  • from
  • heat.
  • Cool slightly. Beat
  • in
  • sugar.
  • Add
  • eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly. Stir
  • in
  • vanilla.
  • Mix
  • flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to mixture.
  • Fold in nuts.
  • Chill about 30 minutes. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  • Roll in sugar and bake on ungreased sheet for 18 to 20 minutes at 300°.
