Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 qt. milk
  • 3/4 c. rice (not instant)
  • 1/2 c. canned milk
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • In a deep saucepan, combine milk and rice.
  • Simmer, over low heat, until rice is done (about 45 minutes).
  • Mix eggs, canned milk, sugar and cornstarch in a bowl and set aside.
  • When rice is done, add liquid mixture and vanilla.
  • Bring back to a boil and remove from heat.
  • Pour into dish and cool.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon and/or nutmeg on top.
  • Serve hot or cold.
