Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk, scalded
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • melted butter

Method

  • Scald milk and cool to lukewarm.
  • Soften yeast in water. Combine flour, sugar and salt in large bowl.
  • Cut in shortening until fine.
  • Add warm milk, eggs and yeast.
  • Beat until well blended.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight or up to 1 week.
  • Roll out on floured board as biscuits.
  • Brush with melted butter; place on greased cookie sheet.
  • Cover and let rise for 3 hours.
  • Bake for 10 minutes at 400°.
  • Makes 24.
