Ingredients

  • 6 c. Pillsbury all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 4 pkg. Fleischmann's yeast
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. shortening

Method

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; set aside.
  • Cream shortening and sugar until slightly creamy.
  • Pour boiling water into cup to dissolve all the shortening and add to creamed mixture.
  • Add lightly beaten eggs and stir, then add dissolved yeast.
  • Add flour, 3 cups at a time.
  • Stir until all flour is wet (do not try to remove the lumps).
  • Cover with waxed paper and aluminum foil and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
