Ingredients
- 1 pound dried pinto or kidney beans
- 6 c. water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- salt to taste
Method
- Mix well, continue cooking, stirring frequently until beans are thickened and butter is absorbed. Serve at once or refrigerate for later use. (I put 1 to 2 c. in freezer containers and freeze for later use.) I also find the crock pot works well to put beans in after they are mashed. Cook on low for the remainder of time.
