Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. Wesson oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 tsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 bottle red food coloring
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Method

  • Cream sugar, Wesson oil and eggs.
  • Beat well.
  • Sift together flour, salt and soda.
  • Mix cocoa and red food coloring together; add vinegar.
  • Mix well.
  • Add this to eggs and sugar mix.
  • Beat. Then add flour, alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
  • Beat well.
  • Bake at 350° about 30 minutes in round cake pans.
