Ingredients
- 1 head grated red cabbage
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tart apple, peeled and sliced thin
- 1 Tbsp. raspberry syrup or regular syrup
- 1 minced onion
- 5 whole cloves
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1/4 c. red wine
Method
- Brown onion lightly in 2 tablespoons oil, mixed with 1 tablespoon oleo and grated cabbage.
- Stir.
- Add about 1 cup water, bay leaf, cloves and vinegar.
- Let simmer for 30 minutes, then add apple-syrup, salt-pepper and wine.
- Let simmer for 30 more minutes.
- Freezes well and tastes best when reheated.
