Ingredients
- 3 c. raisins
- 3 c. water
- 3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. oleo or butter
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 tsp. baking soda, scalded in a little hot water
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. lemon flavor
- 5 1/2 c. flour
Method
- In a saucepan, boil raisins, water, sugar, butter, salt, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cool. Stir in baking soda, baking powder, flour and lemon flavoring. Mix well.
- Place mixture in a greased Bundt pan and bake for 1 hour at 325° or 2 large loaf pans for 1 1/4 hours at 325°.
- This is a great cake.
