Ingredients

  • 3 c. raisins
  • 3 c. water
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oleo or butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 tsp. baking soda, scalded in a little hot water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon flavor
  • 5 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • In a saucepan, boil raisins, water, sugar, butter, salt, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg 3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cool. Stir in baking soda, baking powder, flour and lemon flavoring. Mix well.
  • Place mixture in a greased Bundt pan and bake for 1 hour at 325° or 2 large loaf pans for 1 1/4 hours at 325°.
  • This is a great cake.
