Ingredients
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. raisins, plumped in hot water
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Scald milk and butter; cool to lukewarm.
- Pour over sugar to dissolve it.
- Add egg and dry ingredients.
- Mix in drained raisins.
- Let rise once.
- Second time shape into 2 loaves.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
