Ingredients

  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 rounded tsp. shortening (measure then soften)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour or more to make stiff dough
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Method

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Roll out like pie crust.
  • Cover with flour.
  • Double over half again.
  • Press with rolling pin.
  • Cover top with flour.
  • Start at one end and roll dough into a roll. Slice diagonally from end of roll into thin slices.
  • Drop into boiling broth.
  • Don't stir; just push apart.
  • Boil 5 minutes. Don't cover.
