Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1/2 c. half and half
  • 3/4 c. spaghetti sauce
  • 3/4 c. good brown gravy (homemade if have) or canned beef gravy
  • 1/4 c. grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
  • 1 tsp. dried whole oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. dried whole rosemary
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 lb. penne pasta (short, small pasta tubes)

Method

  • Prepare pasta according to package directions.
  • Add oil to a frying pan; cook beef and garlic.
  • Saute until the meat is tender, then drain excess fat.
  • Add all remaining ingredients, except the cheese for topping and the pasta.
  • Simmer while pasta is cooking. Drain pasta; mix with the sauce.
  • Pour into a 3-quart baking dish; top with cheese.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25 minutes, or until bubbly hot.
  • Serves 6.
