Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. coarse salt
Method
- Add yeast to a large bowl, then add warm water and mix.
- Add flour, 1 teaspoon salt and sugar.
- Mix, mix, mix.
- Turn out on floured surface.
- Punch down and fold.
- Repeat this 10 to 20 times. Make 6 to 8 balls.
- Roll and shape into a pretzel (or any shape you prefer).
- Brush with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Bake at 425° for 12 minutes.
- Remove and cool 10 minutes.
