Ingredients

  • 5 egg yolks
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 5 Tbsp. sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp. brandy or 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla

Method

  • Add salt to eggs; beat until thick and lemon colored.
  • Add sugar and flavoring; continue to beat.
  • Add sour cream and flour alternately, mixing well after each addition.
  • Knead on floured board until dough blisters.
  • Cut in halves.
  • Roll very thin; cut into strips about 4 inches long.
  • Slit each piece in center and pull through slit.
  • Fry in fat until lightly browned.
  • Drain on paper towel.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
