- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 6 ounces canned tomato paste
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon basil pesto (I used Digiorno)
- 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons red wine
- 1/2 tablespoon pine nuts, smashed (optional)
Method
- In a medium saucepan, saute garlic in oil until it just starts to turn golden.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Simmer for 10 minutes over medium low heat.
