- 1 loaf Italian bread, cut in half lengthwise
- 3 pats butter
- 3/4 c. lean ground beef
- 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. minced onions
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 8 slices process American cheese
- 2 ripe tomatoes
Method
- Spread the butter on first; spread mixture on cut side of bread.
- Place cut side up on baking sheet pan.
- Top with thin slices of ripe tomatoes.
- Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 20 minutes.
- Take out of oven.
- Top with 8 slices of cheese until melted, about 5 minutes.
- Cut into 8 pieces.
