Ingredients
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- peel of 1/2 lemon
- 1 (3-inch) cinnamon stick
- 5 whole cloves
- 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
- 1 c. apple juice
- 1/5 Burgundy wine
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
Method
- In large saucepan, dissolve sugar in water, lemon, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and apple juice.
- Cook over medium-high heat for 15 minutes.
- Add wine; heat, but do not boil.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg.
