Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. chopped, canned Bartlett pears
- 2/3 c. chopped pecans
Method
- Cream together shortening and sugars; add egg and beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon and salt.
- Add to shortening mixture.
- Stir in pears and nuts.
- Pour into a 9-inch greased loaf pan.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
- Let stand until cool. Remove and dust with powdered sugar.
