Ingredients

  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (11 oz.) pkg. milk chocolate candies

Method

  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Cream the sugars, shortening and peanut butter. Add eggs, milk and vanilla. Beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Add to mixture and beat well. Shape into 1-inch balls. Roll in additional granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • Press a milk chocolate candy in center of each warm cookie. Return to oven and bake for 3 more minutes.
  • Makes 6 to 7 dozen cookies. Stores well.
