Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. broken walnuts
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • In 6-quart saucepan stir together sugar and milk.
  • Add salt. Cook over medium-high heat to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium, stirring only 2 to 3 times, cook to soft ball stage.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add margarine, peanut butter and vanilla.
  • Do not stir.
  • Place pan in cold water for 15 to 20 minutes or until mixture starts losing its gloss.
  • Add walnuts; beat mixture until very thick.
  • Turn into 7 x 9-inch pan. Refrigerate until firm.
