Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 2/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Method

  • Combine sugar, corn syrup and evaporated milk in heavy saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 4 minutes or to 234° to 240° on candy thermometer (soft ball stage).
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in peanut butter and vanilla; beat with spoon until thickened.
  • Pour into an 8 x 8-inch buttered dish.
  • Let stand until set.
  • Cut into squares. Yields 24 squares.
