Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/3 c. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cream shortening, peanut butter and sugars together.
  • Add the egg and beat well.
  • Sift the remaining dry ingredients together and add to the first mixture.
  • Add the vanilla and form into small balls.
  • Place on a greased baking sheet and press each ball flat with the prongs of a fork.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.
  • Yield:
  • 4 dozen (2-inch) cookies.
