Ingredients

  • 2 c. hot water (from tap)
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. Karo light corn syrup
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. raw Spanish peanuts

Method

  • Combine sugar, water and syrup in a pan.
  • Stir until clear on medium to medium-high heat.
  • When clear, boil until it spins a thread when dropped from the spoon, approximately 45 minutes. (Cook to 230° or until it threads.)
  • Add peanuts.
  • Boil until peanuts turn brown, 8 to 9 minutes.
  • Quickly stir in soda and vanilla.
  • Pour onto clean, ungreased cookie sheet and spread.
