Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 roll or 2 slices bread
  • 1 egg
  • 1 envelope brown gravy mix
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • shortening
  • nutmeg
  • salt and pepper

Method

  • Soak roll or bread slices in water.
  • Soak out excess water and mix well with hamburger, onion, egg, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Shape into round patties approximately 2 1/2-inches in diameter. Brown both sides in hot shortening.
  • Set patties on platter and drain grease.
  • Add gravy mix and water to pan and cook and stir until thickened.
  • Add patties and simmer 15 minutes.
